Embracing Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2022 in your Interiors

It’s that time of year again! No… not Christmas; the time that Pantone reveals its Colour of the Year! For 2022, Pantone is sticking with a vibrant scheme – following last year’s pick of the bright yellow ‘Illuminating’.

Every year, Pantone’s colour experts comb the world for the latest colour inspirations, and through “thoughtful consideration and trend analysis” determine which colour will be the most influential in a wide range of industries – from packaging and graphic design to fashion and home furnishings. The latest Colour of the Year is a lively shade of periwinkle – ‘PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri’.

According to Pantone’s colour experts, this shade “is a symbol of the global zeitgeist of the moment and the transition we are going through”. It displays a “spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expressions” … and with that in mind, we have selected some of our favourite tiles that either embody, or complement, the 2022 Colour of the Year!

The Spirit Collection - Blue Night

Our stunning Spirit tile in shade ‘Blue Night’ perfectly embodies the spirit of ‘Very Peri’, bringing an undeniably calming feel to any room or scheme. Paired with the contemporary shape and size, these small-format tiles are the perfect option for creating drama in en-suites, bathrooms, and kitchen splashbacks.

The textured finish of this tile reflects light beautifully and brings new aspects to the warm-blue periwinkle colour. Apply in a brick-style (like pictured here) or opt for a more contemporary style with a herringbone pattern or stacking – this tile will look great no matter what you choose to do with it!

The Archer Collection – Blue Velvet

Next up for our ‘Very Peri’ inspired tiles is our Archer tile in ‘Blue Velvet’. This fun and unique tile is a great way to make a statement with your kitchen or bathroom splashback – or even a whole room!

These multi-tonal tiles lean more to the side of blue, but – just like Pantone’s Colour of the Year – the hint of a violet-red undertone can add a warm feel to your chosen space. Arrange in a stacked pattern (like pictured here) or mix it up in a brick-style format or even diagonally for a super-modern effect!

The Calacatta Collection – White Matt

The first of our tiles that we think would perfectly complement the modern and vibrant ‘Very Peri’ is our Calacatta tile in ‘White Matt’. This marble effect porcelain tile is sure to bring a touch of luxury to your scheme which, when paired with a burst of periwinkle, can be immediately contemporised.

We think taking the Calacatta ‘Matt White’ tile across the floor and part way up the wall, with a ‘Very Peri’-inspired paint above would look amazing in a family bathroom, downstairs loo, or en-suite!

Update a classic marble scheme with Periwinkle – we promise, you won’t regret it!

Terrazzo Margherita – Silver

Our final selection, inspired by Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2022, is the Terrazzo Margherita tile in ‘Silver’. A modern take on the ancient art of terrazzo, the Margherita tile will accentuate the warm undertones of Pantone’s periwinkle pick perfectly.

Opt for this neutral and tactile product on your floors while adding hints of periwinkle in soft furnishings, decorations and artwork – or go all out with a purple-blue shade on the walls! This wall and floor tile is perfectly suited for any space, thanks for it’s hard-wearing and through-body porcelain finish – complete with anti-slip glaze.

So, there you have it! Some stunning options and inspiration for embracing 2022’s Colour of the Year. We can’t wait to see what you do with this vibrant and emboldening shade!
