With 2014 drawing to a close we thought it was about time we stacked up our favourite tile trends of the year for your perusal. Have you completed a project with one of our designs of 2014?

Wood effect tiles

While wood flooring isn’t a new phenomenon 2014 was the year wood effect tiles really came into their own with many of our customers asking if we’d started selling real wood! With everything from contemporary distressed planks, to multi tonal herringbone laid panels and even traditional knotty boards we have a wood effect tile available for all decoration schemes. A new style that became apparent this year was tiling wood not just on floors but on walls too. Create an unexpected spa like haven by using this naturally inspired tile in your bathroom.

2014trendsimage4 Kiev Gris
If you keep up with our #TuesdayTrends hashtag on Twitter you’ll know that we can’t get enough of texture. This year we’ve encouraged our customers to be more adventurous with their tile choices and adding texture into your home is a really simple, but effective way of being that bit bolder. We promise. If you want to bring a touch of drama into your bathroom we’d suggest trying our Nuvoloso range which has a beautiful, ethereal colour palette with a delicate textured finish. If going bold or going home is your life mantra then why not try our Kiev range with its definite rough to touch finish?

Hex Basalt
We’ve welcomed the arrival of hexagons with open arms this year. While we love the traditional rectangular and square tiles it makes a real change to see the return of such an iconic shape, at Cersaie (one of the most important tile exhibitions) hexagons were everywhere. Styling is key when you’re tiling with hexagons, we’d suggest tiling just the floor, the walls or creating a feature with mosaics to ensure your living space remains chic and not over done. We love how the unique honeycomb structure becomes the focal point with our tile Hex.

Patchwork Patterns

Patchwork patterned tiles have taken the market by storm this year, the quirkier and more unusual the pattern the better. Inspired by Spanish styles and traditional encaustic tiles we love the variety and flexibility these tiles bring to your living space. Pair patchworks prints with a wood effect tile for a double dose of style a la Avenue or try a monochrome approach with our earthy toned yet contemporary Metro Stone range.
