The Forest range - The first tile made with Biogres
BIOGRES tiles : The project refers to the implementation of
a pilot line consisting of new techniques for the treatment,
blend and preparation of the raw materials that allow to
re-use the waste materials derived from the polishing and
processing of the ceramic materials and to use, even to a
great extent, the secondary materials, such as glass scraps
and ceramic waste.
The result are qualitatively homogeneous finished products,
chemically stable and inert, with a high degree of thermal
and sound insulation and contrast to electromagnetic
pollution, containing a quantity of recycled product equal
to at least 35% up to 50%
Environmental benefits
Recovery and return of the water used in the polishing and
processing of the ceramic materials to the environment.
Recovery and valorisation of the primary and secondary
materials, which are normally dumped.
Cancellation of the environmental impact of the polishing
and processing of ceramic materials.
The new products can be fully recycled.
1. Development of a system for preparing the recycled
products and the raw materials for new products.
2. Development of an ecological ‘green’ system.
3. Development of system for firing.
After various tests (on traditional raw materials, waste
materials from other working processes and various types of
expanders), we have obtained the definition of a series of
mixtures, containing waste from polishing up to 50% and
complementary raw materials (local clays, ceramic discards
from working refractories or porcelain, sand washing
discards or glass scraps), with fine grain size and a high
degree of homogeneity.
