Pele Comes to Sheffield
Posted: 8th November 2007
The YTC Chairman - Stefan Firth - was fortunate to meet the worlds most famous footballer - Pele - during his recent visit to Sheffield. Sheffield United FC have forged strong links with Brazilian team 'Sao Paulo' and Pele's interest in the link has brought him to Sheffield during a week when Sheffield FC - the worlds oldest football team - celebrate their 150th anniversary.

Pele made the trip across the Atlantic with his Sao Paulo Under 17 Academy team, which played in a series of games during their stay.
Pele was also guest of honour during Sheffield FC's anniversary game against Inter Milan, which was played at Bramall Lane. Despite losing the game 4-2 against tough Italian opposition, Sheffield FC played a fantastic game and the 2 goals they did score were definitely an achievement that will go down in their history books.
Stefan Firth can now add meeting Pele to his archive of other top sporting personalities he has met in person, and to make the memory even more special, the photo was signed by the football legend.
