YTC Win 2006 Darntons / Ardex Football Tournament

The YTC were worthy winners of the 2006 Darntons/Ardex 5-a-side football competition after progressing through the tournament undefeated. 12 other tile companies from the Northern area also entered a team in the annual football fundraising event to help raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Since the fundraising event was first set up 4 years ago, over £4000 has been raised for the cause. This is the second time the YTC have won the competition, having reached the semi-finals once before and also runners up.

This year, the YTC progressed through the group stage winning all three games before facing 'Waxmans' in the semi-final where they battled hard to win 4-1.

In the final, the YTC played 'Tiles UK' and despite conceding an early goal, the YTC continued adding the pressure to score two goals within 5 minutes to take the lead. With 2 minutes left, 'Tiles UK' found an equalizer making it 2-2. With a penalty shoot out looking likely to decide the game, the YTC scored with less than 60 seconds on the clock and played out the remaining seconds to win the game 3-2.
