Shetland Pony Grand National
Shetland Pony Grand National - December 2006
YTC Nortile sponsored a Shetland pony racing in this years final held at the Newcastle Greyhound Stadium. Racing alongside three other finalists, Nortile's pony came in first. In the picture below, Nortile branch manager - Jackie Raeburn - can be seen third from the left holding the winners trophy.

On the night, YTC Nortile presented a cheque for £1000, which goes to Great Ormand Street Childrens Hospital.
YTC Nortiles sponsored pony was called 'Knix Grand Bobby Jo', named after the horse that won the grand national in 1999 as he was born on the same day. The pony was also making its debut at the Shetland Pony Grand National this year.
Many of the young jockeys (aged between 9 and 13) riding the ponies continue in racing after their junior days, making their career with horses. Nine year old, Christie Short, was the jockey for YTC Nortile.
The Shetland Pony Grand National is held every year and since its inception in 1982, has helped raise over £300,000 for the childrens hospital.
