Stefan's Journal of the Trek (20th to 21st Nov)

Sunday 20th November

After a good nights sleep, we were up at 7am (after waking at 6.15am). Trekked up a very steep path to reach the Everest View Hotel (3850m). It was misty, but we got our first view of Everest. Back to our lodgings and then into the centre to use the phone and buy one or two things. Bumped into Dave & Claire from our group and had a Sheffield v Bath Pool tournament... stupid game anyway!

The Sun is Shining - It Doesn't Get Better Than This!

Monday 21st November

Slept quite well and was up at 6.40am. I had breakfast and walked out of the door straight into a Yak! We had a 2000ft steep climb to Tengboche, which we managed ok. It was sunny but soon turned very cold. During the climb we saw the Everest Marathon Runners. On the way, our pool competitors Dave & Claire stayed behind in Phunki Tenga after Dave became ill, he was quite sick and really tired (he later swore it was the mango juice !). At Tengboche we visited the Buddhist Monastery which was quite spiritual and very interesting.
