Stefan's Journal of the Trek (18th to 19th Nov)
Friday 18th November
Flew from Kathmandu to to Lukla (2825m), the flight was amazing, our plane flew directly towards the mountains before banking right to land on the short runway atop a plateau. We then made the short trek to Phakding (2.5 hours) and stayed overnight in a 'Tea house'.

The Airport at Lukla – built by Sir Edmund Hilary
Saturday 19th November
After a poor nights sleep, we trekked to Namche Bazaar (3480m). We passed lots of soldiers on the way, some wearing tracksuits, rifles over their shoulders. We were very tired after our climb, our Tea House was at the very top of Namche. After settling into our tea house, we had a wander around the Sherpa capital and were amazed to find a pub with a pool table. Several Mango Juice’s (beer & altitude don’t mix!) and games of pool later (the table wasn’t straight I’m telling you!) we climbed the hundreds of steps back to our lodgings. We had a nice room (for these parts) and the view was fantastic.
