Are Glass Tiles for Me?
Glass has been used in the decoration of buildings for a thousand
years. Now in the 21st Century, glass tiles are becoming very popular in the
home as they bring depth, luminescence & character to any indoor or outdoor
project.
Although glass tiles are commonly more expensive
than ceramic tiles, the unique effects they can offer easily make up for the
extra cost.
Durability
As with all glass products, glass tiles can be scratched. The Yorkshire Tile
Company recommend that
care is taken in installation and that glass tiles are not put in high-risk
areas for scratching.
Installation
Due to the transparent nature of most glass tiles, an even application of white
adhesive is recommended. Failure to this can lead to the adhesive being visible
through the tiles in certain lights.
Particular care should be taken when to use the correct grout. Coloured grouts are not recommended, unless specified suitable for use with glass tiles. For more help and advice on installation, please contact us.
Cleaning
Wash down glass tile surfaces with clean water or a normal spirit, glass, or
window cleaner. Please ensure a soft cloth is used to avoid scratching.
